hi, its a bit late into the semester to obtain a teaching position but you may have some luck. keep looking through the jobs boards. just google teaching thailand.

i am assuming you are female? is that correct. if so, you shouldnt have much problems getting a job teaching. if you are still looking for a position next school year pm me and i will be able to offer you something. in the mean time, good luck and be careful out there. :D

Some general comments in reply to what is a very general question:

Mostly, you need to know yourself, and, be honest with yourself, I think.

- How much Thai do you speak ? If the answer is "little or none", life outrside of the main tourist centres might not be for you.

- How is your tolerance for Thai food ?

- Are you good at handling situations where there is "no one to talk to" ? I don't mean this comment in the strictly linguistic sense. Many foreigners find that they don't have much in common with most Thai's, even in instances where the language barier is not a big issue.

- Don't take this next point as being a sexist comment. It doesn't matter what you or I think; it matters what Thai's think. This is a 3rd world country. Women walking around alone, in what is obviously a social situation, are often seen as "looking for a man". I think this attitude is even more prevalent upcountry than it is in Bangkok. And, in most upcountry locations, you will certainly be regarded as a curiosity, to put it mildly.

If you think that you will be making a "sanity trip" to Bangkok/Chiang Mai/Phuket every second weekend because you "have to" have a Big Mac, a Budweiser, and see another white face, it might better to get a job in one of those places.
