Working Freelance Possible?

Featured Replies

Hello people,

I am a German freelance video reporter and was wondering whether I am allowed to run 2 commercial websites in Thailand:

1. Online newspaper (generating income by ads) in German for German speaking residents/companies in Thailand.

- I would need a few Thai workers to help (paid). Would I have to have a work permit/register a company for that? Or, could a Thai register a company instead with me helping out? What kind of visa would I need?

2. Download platform offering video clips (documentaries, reportages, news) to TV in Germany.

- No registration/work permit needed for that, I suppose, as I would only sell to TV in Germany.

Thanks in advance for any helpful reply.

Regards

BTW, I do not intend to migrate to and/or become a permanent resident in Thailand.

1. You need to start a company with 2 million baht in capital and have four Thai employees to get a work permit.

A German can only own 49% of a Thai company so you need a Thai that owns 51%

You need a non-immigrant B visa to get a work permit although you can apply for none on a tourist visa.

2. Yes, you need a work permit for that also.

You better contact someone that can help you like SunbeltAsia
