Algerian suspected thief arrested by Pattaya Police

PATTAYA: -- An Algerian man was arrested by Police on Tuesday afternoon, accused of breaking into two hotel rooms and stealing items from foreign guests. The incident occurred at a Guest House in Soi Yensabai in South Pattaya earlier on Tuesday when the occupants of two rooms reported the break-ins to Hotel staff who examined CCTV footage and determined the prime suspects were two Algerian guests who were residing in a room close-by who were seen to leave without paying. A report was made at Pattaya Police Station and a search for the two men began. Hotel staff joined the search and spotted one of the men in Soi Jirapon off Third Road in Central Pattaya. Mr. Ladmia Nadir aged 39 realized he had been spotted and tried to escape but was caught by members of the public who detained Mr. Nadir until Police arrived. Mr. Nadir was taken to Pattaya Police Station and identified as one of the two Algerians who had left the Hotel without paying. The other man known only as Mr. Hassan is thought to have taken the stolen items and is currently at-large. Mr. Nadir indicated he did not have a passport and was subsequently charged with residing illegally in the Kingdom of Thailand and two counts of theft.
