Flooding Chiang Mai: Visa Office?

Featured Replies

It's the 30th of Sept and Chiang Mai is flooded.

Does anyone know if the visa office near the airport is open? Is it accessible from the road from Lamphun to Airport road?

Anyone know what happens if you cant renew your visa due to floods?

Anyone have a guess as to how long the city will be flooded?

I need to change my three month non-immigrant visa, which is up soon, to a one year temporary residency and worried what will happen if I try to go one-year with an expired stay.

Will be driving up from Lampang.

Thanks!

Believe only area near river has water and most roads are passable. You should apply several weeks early for extensions of stay rather than wait until the last minute (for next time) as you lose no time and have time to get any extra documents. Believe Immigration will be open. US Consulate is closed due flood (there are right on the river) but believe most other offices are open.

Have just seen UK Consulate in Chiang Mai is also closed due to flooding.
