Pet owners, PLEASE beware. I had a very shaking, nightmarish experience recently. I live in Thailand and I was looking for a home for my beloved dog, who I cannot take care of anymore but who I love dearly. My vet of many years, who I thought was a good person, recommended a "shelter" in the same city. I'd rather not go into the details, but suffice it to say that after touring the "shelter" with the manager, it was obvious to me that this was not a shelter at all but some sort of clearinghouse for selling healthy animals for lab experiments.

I know there are legitimate shelters out there and that they do great work. But please, please do not make the mistake I almost made and give your pet to someone you don't really know.

Now I have to wonder if my vet knows about the true nature of this operation and knowingly sent me there anyway.

My doggie is safe at home and I have since found a friend to adopt him.

PLEASE never give your pet to ANYONE unless you really, really, know them personally.

Oh... what a horrible, horrible experience.

Sounds like a scary story. Glad you found a home for your dog.

Trying to find a home for 4 cats at the moment (all sterilized) , but suspect I'm not going to have any luck in finding a home where they can stay together - they're all from the one litter.

It's a dilemma :(
