Rimmer Posted October 4, 2011 Share Posted October 4, 2011 South Pattaya Street Beggars arrested by Police PATTAYA: -- A team of street beggars who use young children to beg for money from foreign tourists have been arrested by Region 2 Police from the Child and Women Protection Unit and 5 children aged between 1 and 14 have been taken into care. Officers tracked the gang of beggars who were known to operate in South Pattaya around the area of Soi Yensabai. Child Welfare Officers from the District Office also took part in the operation and observed the gang for some time and watched how the children would be dropped off at night and then collected in the morning by a man who claims he is the father of all children, Khun Sayan aged 51, a fact which Police are disputing. The group were intercepted on the Naklua Road outside the Potisampan School early on Monday Morning and taken to the Police Station.
