Will Get Work Permit In Two Months. What To Do In Meantime?

Featured Replies

Hi!I've been in Thailand 1 month on tourist visa already. I am currently in Phnom Phen. In two months I start working and get a WP. How can I best manage in the meantime? Are there two-month visas avaliable from Phnom Phen? Are there any ways to avoid more visa-runs while waiting?

I'm 28 and Norwegian passport holder

I suspect you were on a visa exempt entry rather than a tourist visa which provides a 60 day (extendable to 90) for most nationalities. You may be able to obtain a tourist visa from Embassy but will take several days. Or a return by air would be 30 day visa exempt again or by land 15 days.

So a return by air would sort it? Can I apply for 30-day extension in Bangkok?

Oh, and I don't mind staying some days in Phnom Phen if it means I don't have togo for another Visa run before december.

No you could not extend a visa exempt entry for 30 days. Best you stay and apply for a tourist visa now. It may take up to 4 workdays but a single entry should be issued if all you have had is one visa exempt entry and that would cover 60 days and could be extended another 30 if required.

I have two visa exempts all together in the passport, and one 6 month ed visa, all from 2011.

I would give it a try as you are there anyhow and in worst case return by air for the 30 days and make another air return for second.

Thanks for helpful replies.

I do have the paperwork for a 6 month ED-visa with me. But I don't know if I want to get an ED-visa as I am actually going to study for just 2 months before starting working. I'm thinking it might make getting Visa more difficult for me in the future. Thoughts?
