Triple Entry Visa

Featured Replies

Hi All

Could any kind souls please explain or illustrate how does Triple Entry Visa work ?

Thank you very much in advance.

3 entry tourist visa would be valid for entry for 3 or 6 months but most likely 6 (which you need to want to stay rather than make quick trips).

60 day entry you can extend 30 days exit/return to do again and before expiration date of visa make final exit/return and do third time.

I had a 3 entry Visa on my first trip to Thailand exactly 1 year ago. It was free at the time, went to the Los Angeles Thai Immigration office on a Monday morning, picked it up the next day.

Visa was good for 6 months.

3 Entry meant I was allowed to enter Thailand a total of 3 times without having to do anything extra.

60 days each time with a 30 day 1,900 baht extension option.

Hi Guys,

Thank you for the responses.

Please correct me if i am wrong with the following example. Sorry, i need example to understand better, and i cant afford to make mistake on this visa thing.

EXAMPLE:

Enter before: 16 Feb 2012

Date of Issue: 15 Nov 2011

1st 60-day : Admitted 16 Nov 2011 until 15 Jan 2012

Before 15 Jan 2012, go for 30- day extention, 1900 Baht.

13 Feb 2012 leaves BKK, enter again to obtain the 2nd 60-day (until 12 Apr 2012)

before 12 Apr 2012, go for 30-day extention, 1900 baht.

10 May 2012 leaves BKK, enter again to obtain the 3rd 60-day (until 9 July 2012)

before 9 July 2012, go for 30-day extention, 1900 baht.

Before 8 Aug 2012 leaves BKK to submit a new Visa Application.

Kindly please correct me if I am wrong. Your enlightenment would be greatly appreciated.

Wrong - you have a three month validity for your visa so all entries must be made before 16 Feb 2012. So no need for any extensions of stay except for the final entry.

exit 15 Jan for new 60 day entry (but you can not use but 30 days)

exit 15 Feb for new 60 day entry

extend mid April for stay until mid May

1) Errr... I don't understand " (but you can not use but 30 days)"...

2) Does it mean 15 Jan & 15 Feb must do a border-run? And mid April go for 30-day extension, 1900Baht?

Yes that is what it means. You can not use the full 60 days was what I tried to get across.

Using your example.

What you are missing is that ALL THREE entries must be completed by that use before date.

In your example: 16 Feb 2012

After 16 Feb 2012 any unused entrys are no longer valid. They are forfited if unused after that date.

So one way you could use that visa would be:

Enter 16 Nov 2011 and get entry stamp until 15 Jan 2012

13 Jan 2012 exit Thailand and renter. Now you get another 60 day stamp until until 12 Apr 2012.

That's two entries and after 16 Feb 2012 your visa is invalid. So you lose your 3rd entry.

But that 2nd entry stamp means it is still legal for you to remain in Thailand until 12 Apr 2012.

A triple entry tourist visa is really intended for someone who plans to come to Thailand(first entry), stay a month, take a trip to another country for a week. Then return for another month (2nd entry) before taking another week long trip to another country...and when that person re-emters Thailand just before that use before date...that's the 3rd entry.

But if all you want is to maximise your time in Thailand, a double entry visa is a more cost-effective solution...because it is cheaper to get than a triple entry visa.

But if what you want to do is be a tourist traveling around Southeast Asia with Thailand as your home base a triple entry visa can be used for three entrys and exits.

But you have to plan your dates for those entrys carefully to get all of them before that use before date.

Does it mean when on 15 Jan does a border-run, 60days will still be given, but because of the enter-before-date, we cannot stay for 60 days and have to exit in 30 days time, so that we can get the balance of 90days (3rd visa 60days + 30days extension) ?

Correct.

1) So, can i conclude that in fact Double Entry and Triple Entry Visa both have the same number of stays (ie 60 days, 30 days, 60days, 30days) ?

2) Is this correct :

Double Entry = 1 border-run, 2 extensions

Triple Entry = 2 border-runs, 1 exension

Just wanted to make sure my overall understanding is correct. Forgive me if 'm too long-winded...

Each entry on a tourist visa can be extended by 30 days.

So a double entry is 60 days + extensions of 30 days, leave the country, enter again and get 60 days + extensions of 30 days, leave the country (or up to 180 days)

A triple entry is 60 days + extensions of 30 days, leave the country, enter again and get 60 days + extensions of 30 days, leave the country enter again and get 60 days + extensions of 30 days (or up to 270 days)

The problem is the validity of the visa, which much be taken into account. So you can not always use the full 30 day extensions as all entries must be made before the visa expires.

But end up, Triple Visa is not giving 270 days but only 180 days , right?

Right. Or a bit less. And that is due to the validity being only 3 months. Tourists are not expected to be here for an extended period of time so such a visa would be fine for most making multi country trips during a long vacation period.

But end up, Triple Visa is not giving 270 days but only 180 days , right?

It depends where you get the visa from. I applied for a double entry in Canada which was valid for 6 months, and I assume a triple entry would have the same validity. This means I would have been able to get 270 days with at triple entry tourist visa applied from Canada. Unfortunately your visa is only valid for 3 months so the most you can get out of it is 180 days. A triple entry in your case was a waste of money if you only got it to maximize your stay in Thailand.

yes because a visa double or triple is only valid for 3 months you can only stay maximum of 180 days .

3 months validity (can enter and leave thailand 3 times if u wish with a triple) + 60 days + 30 day extension

or if you want to stay longer on the application form ask for 6 months not the minimum 3 month validity.

if you get 6 months then can stay 6 months + 60 days + 30 day extension.

on the visa application form i think it says things like proposed length of stay in thailand etc so fill in form correctly and they may give you a 6 month one, maybe show some flight information too.

What is meant by "a double entry visa is a more cost-effective solution...because it is cheaper to get than a triple entry visa." ?? Isn't the cost of a tourist visa the same no matter how many entries? All I see on the fee structure is one price for a Tourist Visa.

B)

a tourist visa costs 1,000 baht (in local valuta) per entry. So a double entry would cost 2,000 and a triple 3,000.

I got almost 270 days off a triple 2x1 2x1 2x1 -3 days. But I also had a 3 entry visa from Los Angeles.
