New Passport

Featured Replies

I dont know if this is the right forum to post this on but here goes I have been in Thailand for 12 years now, I have just had a brand new passsport sent from Hongkong and so has my mate. He lives in Pattaya I live in the north east.

He Phoned me today to say that we have to pay 3,000 baht each to pattaya imagration to give a letter to the border that the new passport is not a copy

Come on Please tell me this is bull-shit and its just pattaya being greedy for a change 3,000 baht it is the same price as the passport

I still have the old one can I go out on it and come back on the new one?

Any help please?

I think someone is pulling your plonker! When I got my new UK passport I took it down to the immigration at Jomtien with the old passport and they transferred all the information, extension, 90 day slip TM 6 etc to the new passport, no charge.

Did you get Immigration to move the visa stamps over to the new passports, there should not be any problems if so.

Also the topic has been moved to Visas forum.

If on a visa entry you just exit using both passports now and stamps are done at border. If on an extension of stay from Immigration you do as before and visit immigration office to make the transfers. There is no charge.

I received a new passport and took both new and old passports to the office in Jomtien. They transferred all the relevant stamps to the new passport ( took up three whole pages ). I then went to the airport with only the new passport and experienced no problems at all.
