County Down pervert jailed for Thailand trip

A County Down man has been jailed for almost three years for flying into London from Thailand while carrying a laptop full of child pornography.

Ian Patrick Magill, from Ballyhornan Road, Downpatrick, admitted being in breach of several Sexual Offences Prevention Orders by making a secret trip to Bangkok in January.

The 63-year-old has a series of convictions stretching back decades.

The court heard that Magill said he thinks he cannot be cured.

Downpatrick Crown Court heard that Magill also told police during an interview that "I am going to have to control myself". [more...]

I would be happy to cure him and any other pedo nonces hanging around these parts, but I can't guarantee they will enjoy my methods much........

prevention always better than cure.

If he has a record going back decades-WHY was he allowed a passport ??????,,,,,,,,,,,secret trip.............he should be monitored daily. There is no cure. my comment to this is outrageous HERE GOES---------------Give him access to pornography at his home--movies-pictures- to look at and satisfy himself, and a pain killer called tramadol, he will not get sexual feelings. This painkiller I got in Thailand for nerve pain-( and discovered it's other properties)

I'd be more than happy to help you to cure them in a way that they could (and would) never do it again, I swear....sad.gif

Sounds like what you describe could be part of an aversion therapy. Don’t know if is Sex is too ’deep’ in the human person’s personality to change, but it might work. Several ‘pervs’ have reported they want to be ‘cured’.

Maybe it needs to be combined with some positive encouragement in a better direction.

One of Ulster's worst internet paedophiles - jailed for two years yesterday for being in possession of more than 15,000 indecent images of children - will walk free within months under 50% remission. The "leniency" of the sentence handed down to Ian Patrick Magill (59) - who has two previous convictions for possessing child pornography and whose offending has been described by a judge and police as possibly the worst they ever encountered - sparked outcry last night.

Mind you it would help if the police or whoever may be responsible for matters removed the local vendors of kiddy porn available on dvd on open display and vigorously touted by vendors on Sukhumvit road in the evenings. Said material is less obvious but touted somewhat more discreetly during the day.

When I asked one of the vendors why she sold such material she replied it's not my kid, it's not Thai kids they're only Lao and Burmese who like to do those things. Sadly she believed herself too...

I suppose halting this nauseating trade would sorely affect the purchasing power of a BIB or two or more, hence blind eyes are turned and pockets opened.thus nothing is ever likely to happen .

While most people consider those who look at such photos to be despicable.

Does it actually harm anyone?

If it harms nobody, should these persons be punished as harshly as some of you suggest.

Does looking at photos of murdered people (there are such internet sites) make one a murderer, who should be jailed for life?

The UK has already decided that reading a terrorist magazine makes you a terrorist, just how far will this action be taken.

He wasn't just looking at the pictures - he was the one who took them.

Using your own analogy it would be the same difference between looking at photos of murdered people and murdering them yourself.

You are right, but that information wasn't in the original post.

Bad man, cut his bits off, etc.

This is a wind up yeah? What do you imagine it does to the young children involved. You really think that it does not harm them in any way?

Please explain.

You can not begin to compare photo's of murder victims. Which can be seen on the television news, don't worry about specialised web sites. Which me thinks would take rather a weird person, to get off on?

Ludditeman.

I take it you are not a parent with young children. One is tempted to ask what are your reasons for being here in S.E. Asia, Thailand in particular ?

Just how different is it in reality ? In Holland they even outlawed virtual porn. I am not saying i want to see it. But nobody is hurt making it and it is still outlawed. Its like saying everyone watching action movies will kill someone.

I don't believe in the "string em-up mob" approach, however I was a bit surprised that this recidivist is only likely to serve half his sentence in jail, the other half will be spent at home - I can't imagine how this guy qualifies for early release from what already appears a lenient sentence for a repeat offender - beggars belief IMHO

It does seem a bit odd - one clue might be how 'bad' these pictures actually were. One would assume that, since he has admitted to taking them himself, that they were pictures of naked children and there is no mention of any ages. I would assume if there had been any sexual contact or abuse then he would have been charged with a bit more than possession of the photos since I was under the impression that the UK had adequate laws now to deal with pedos travelling abroad.

Continued exposure such material deadens the senses and requires a continued ramping up of the nature of the images in order to elicit the satisfaction the viewer craves. There is a complex psychology to deviancy. There is a complete disconnect that occurs between their desire for self pleasure and the pain and damage inflicted on the children in the images. You do understand that most of the kids featuring in such images were not willing participants. Your argument neglects that the people in those images have had their rights violated. How would you like it if I had images of you in various humiliating poses, or crying out in pain or fear and circulated the images all over the internet? I don't think people would be quite so concerned if the people involved were consenting adults.

+1

These are pictures of minors and someone's children. If he had pictures of my children and was about to share them with all his pedo mates around the world I would be bloody well hurting that is for sure and so would he if I got hold of him. So ludditeman it does hurt others. The only people who find no disgust or are blind of hurt are the pedophilles themselves who are just plain sick.

Unbelievably stupid post. These are not drawings or figments of the imagination but photographs of real children being abused.

Can you spot a victim in this yet?

Try using your grey matter before posting, particularly a sensitive subject such as this.

Buying these sort of materials doesn't really hurt anyone as the "starred" people are hurt already. But what you failed to realize is that buying this sort of materials will create the demant and eventially more people (kids) would get hurt.

Like other's suggested - use your gray matter before posting.
