This headline from today tells you more about Thai culture than a whole book.

A few months ago my college-educated Thai teacher noted that the days seem to be getting longer. I explained to her that the Vernal Equinox had just occurred. She said they do not have that in Thailand because Thai people do not think that way. We had a debate. The next class I came armed with equinoxes, solstices, explanations and diagrams, all in the Thai language.  She laughed and said again that Thai people do not think that way, and those things must only happen in America.

 

Damn if that woman isn't a contrarian!  But my Thai is getting much better. 

Certainly has been for me. Been shopping for over 5 hours with the Mrs, her sister and two female teenagers.
