sceadugenga
I went down to the Chiang Rai end of the new road this morning and it appears to be close to joining the bitumen road that leaves the Old Chiang Mai Road at Hoysan Pubpla. The first photo shows the new earthworks coming to the dam spillway.
sceadugenga
I may have to reconsider my original post after an expedition to confirm the state of the new road today. There is considerable work still to be done. This guy decided it was easier to come down sideways. The views are still worth the trip though. rmacdon61
Living in Hoysan Pubpla, I have gone up that road a few times, much to the wife's dismay (her scooter). Have to admit, it wasn't much of a road, more fit for offroad biking. Very nice views and if taken slowly an interesting drive. Didn't get to the end, took pity on the scooter last time I tried. sceadugenga
My neighbour and I are going to give it another couple of weeks to dry out a bit more then drive through to Fang. He has a Pajero which I thought handled the bad stretches we tackled quite well yesterday. It did bottom out in a couple of the ruts though. I didn't realise I had any Canadian neighbours.
