Suan Dusit Poll: Political Conflict Makes Flood Operation Difficult

As long as they are getting to the right place why would anybody really give a toss what is written on the packaging?

If that were true, why bother putting it there? Don't you believe advertising works?

US and Australian food aid delivered to Aceh after the tsunami all had the national flags clearly displayed. Both countries had been depicted as the Great Satan (more so the US) by the muslim separatist movement, support for which completely collapsed in the aftermath.

It is a simple matter of priorities......first the people in need.....I don't really care who tries to benefit alongside.....I really don't....if the packaging meant that the parcels did not arrive that would be serious......if it means they arrive quicker.......that would be a bonus......people first for me.....Thaksin is not the current problem, disease, clean water, food supplies and accomodation are the problem, and maybe for some time........and if Thaksin, the government, taxpayers, people all over the world, donate to relieve the suffering of the displaced in Thailand, they have my respect and appreciation.........

Regardless of what is on the bloody packaging!!

When we got aid packages during the flooding in Chiang Mai, I was bloody pleased to see them. It didn't have any 'branded' packaging on it, but I wanted to know who was giving it to us all the same, because I was very grateful for getting it.

True, true. After the floods we can blame all those who had their name and/or picture on flood packages donated. For now we just gather evidence <_<

I wonder how much lower P.T. will go?

Handing out relief packages paid for by the taxpayers with P.T.'s name on it. Low down and disgusting.

Well, for starters looks like they forgot Thaksin's picture

Right out of the Kim Jong Il playbook. He slaps NK propaganda stickers over the World Food Program logos on donated rice sacks. Class!

Disgusting - and the apologists will say it is alright.

But if some other party had done the same, expect pitchforks.

Edited to add: The label says the name of the MP(?) behind the mis-representation of giving.

There is nothing disgusting about handing out relief to the needy. There is everything disgusting about political criticism of the handing out of relief to the needy. Some posters on this forum somehow keep finding new lows to stoop to :bah: .

What is also disgusting is people misrepresenting the posts by others. No-one is complaining about the relief being given - it is the alleged misrepresentation of who the aid comes from that is being attacked.

Do you understand the difference?

Do you understand why some of us think you are a bunch of saddos for thinking the labels carry any real importance at this time of immense suffering?

Packages built exclusive with his money most likely would have carried his or his families name, not a local MP.

This looks like a case of one of their MP's 're-branding' packages going to his constituency.

Here it is in black and white, what kind of poster you are.

Don't forget to ignore any questions why this was done if it didn't have any meaning. Or to fain outrage if anyone from any other party does the same.

You have nothing to contribute with to clear up the questions raised and an analyze of the situation is making an judged observation based on the information given.

So what are you complaining about again?

They have been waiting for BKK to openthe gates for ages so that those suffering in Ayuthaya and Pathum Thani etc could have some relief. Their canals are empty and ready but BKK arent allowing water flow.

Yes, they have been waiting for Bangkok to open the gates. The Yingluck government have been saying that they will open the gates and that Bangkok should be prepared to be flooded by a metre of water.

Are you suggesting that they should have flooded Bangkok earlier?

I bet they will time it with the high tide comming in 28-30 okt.

Right, and it was just lucky that they happened to have a few million boxes already printed. Which seems to indicate some sort of planning (and PRIORITIES), or at least activity, over the last few months that seems to be seriously lacking in other areas of disaster management.

Of course, it is a reflection of what PTP are good at - a great PR machine with no problems with a lack of veracity, but absolutely SFA in the way of practical knowledge

One of the reasons the pros put it on there is for monitoring the distributions .... and to see how much of it ends up in the local markets ... or maybe a neighboring country. Of course PR is part of it.

In PTP's case .... it's all about PR.

True, true. I prepared the apartment in case some family close by gets flooded. I have stocked a few items, a bit of noodles, cans of fish. Tomorrow go work again.

So, what have you been up to?

More on the political divide. More lies and PR from none other than the PM's nephew. If it isn't putting Thaksin's picture while distributing food, or a PT politician placing his name over taxpayers donations, we now have Oak tweeting that Abhisit fled to Maldives once the floods began. These clowns just don't know when to stop. What better way to brainwash the masses than when they're exhausted, worn down, and scared. What's Jatuporn up to these days?

"What's Jatuporn up to these days?" - he's out and about opening red villages.

But I'm sure he'll be out there tomorrow talking about the video he has of Abhisit relaxing in the Maldives, which he will release in December.

Actually, I'm more worried about Chalerm. He's disappeared off the map since the start of the floods.

More info on Abhisit's "trip" here: http://asiancorrespo...uthor/aspooner/ I'm sure we'll be hearing more about this.

The asiancorrespondent article ends with "Big thanks to source on Facebook Iamred Thaiguy for tips."

Anyway even though it seems not the most appropriate thing to do, what else is there for the opposition leader to do at these times when PM Yingluck, FROC and various ministers have everything under control and even the Bangkok governor is told not to mind his own business (which is save Bangkok from flooding).

If he did go, it's bad form. He is only the opposition leader, and it does seem like there are lot of government MPs missing in action, but it will be a huge political score for the PTP if he did go.

Andrew Spooner is a known nutcase with outspoken self-professed bias, an activist, not a reporter.

Just a heads-up.

I don't think he's an idiot, surely he understands the difference. He is a proponent of charlatanism, that's a whole 'nother matter. There is no PTP action ever. that didn't reek of carpetbaggers.

I am happy that the flood victims are receiving whatever they can get from the government or any other agency, but the continued politicking in the middle of a national disaster by this group is beyond comprehension. Others will defend this type of constant manipulation and deception, and it's their right to do so, but I find revolting and low down. mad.gif
