dr_Pat_Pong
Recheck Fiji. Thailand removed Fiji from the list of those entitled to enter Thailand without a visa. Fiji probably repaid Thailand for the honor.

samran
You can't really be an economist Samran....you gave a straightforward reply On the other hand.......technically none of these countries are visa free, they just give you a visa when you get there. Thanks for putting me straight Dr P!! Couldn't have forgiven myself if I didn't say something that wasn't convoluted and confusing!! I'll sleep better tonight. The Asean countries each permit citizens of each member country a visa free stay of 30 days for tourism purposes, and free of charge.

samran
The Asean countries each permit citizens of each member country a visa free stay of 30 days for tourism purposes, and free of charge. Not quite.. Cambodia and Laos require Thais to pay for visas like everyone else, just that they are available for purchase at most entry points upon arrival. What I meant in my first list was that a Thai can get a visa on arrival at the border if the facilities to issue one there exist, like at Nong Khai or Poi Pet...so no need to visit the embassy before hand. I think Burma is the only Asean country which requires Thais to get a visa in advance. See, i really am an economist..
dr_Pat_Pong
Also can add Sri Lanka to Samran's list, WOW.......and a Sri Lankan MUST have a visa to enter Thailand. And must obtain it in a Thai Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence.

lopburi3
You are right, Fiji is still visa free. Believe either Hong Kong or Singapore trips would be welcomed. Both are bargain airfares and offer good accommodations/photo taking. I would go for Hong Kong harbor for first trip abroad as it provides a chance for her to get many once in a lifetime photographs for her collection and perhaps a little more 'face' than Singapore at about the same cost. I don't disagree with what you are saying in that is what is suppose to happen. My wife has probably entered 6+ times in last year. Each time, 14 days. This is both at airport and mainland border.
