Hello forum members.

reading the news in England im well aware of the flooding in Bangkok., my gf has stayed with me in england for nearly 6 months and is due to go home next week, however, due to the 'crisis' in bangkok, what are my chances of getting an extension from the British embassy? if so by how many days. weeks, months? has any forum members tried to get an extension for a tourist visa because of the floods? Are the floods really that bad?

any information would be much appreciated,

kind regards,

Barnaby

Forget it. The airport is open, and the British Embassy's advice against all but essential travel to Bangkok does not include Suvarnabhumi. Therefore there is no reason she can't fly back to the country, and as 2/3rds of Thailand isn't under water she can relocate somewhere, as a large number of the population are now doing.

PS There is no "British Embassy" in the UK.

as long as the airport is open and there is not a civil emergency .she will have to return home. 90/of bbk in flooded now .tell her to start packing .sorry but thats the answer. james

Doubtless if Suvarnabhumi was affected, they would reroute a lot of flights to U Tapao, as happened during the Yellowshirt occupation.

With respect, from your recent posting history it seems that you are still looking for a way of converting her visit into settlement whilst she is still in the UK.

This is not going to happen.

Even if the situation in Thailand deteriorates to such an extent that her return has to be delayed beyond the expiry of her visa (doubtful), she would still have to leave the UK when the situation improved.

As you have been told several times before, there is no way she will be able to make an in UK application for settlement whilst in the UK as a visitor. She will have to return to Thailand and apply for settlement there.

Thanks for the quick and helpful replies, i can assure you im not trying to blag the system, im aware that the airport is still open although the British government has advised against travel. to be honest i was kind of hopping for an extension for my Girlfriend.

Also thanks again 7by7, i think you have answered nearly every question iv posted. (it also appears you can read me like a book ;), ,

We have both decided that after over 3 years together both in thailand and England that we would like to marry in Thailand next year and then apply for settlement from Thailand.

thanks again for the help. hope that no members have been effected to badly from the floods.
