Possible Border Crossing Problem

Featured Replies

OK, I have already been on here about this subject but now I have another question, and by the way Thai Visa helps me very much, Thanks to All, I need to leave Thailand to go to the US consulate in Laos tomarow and pick up my new US Passport, the only space I have in my passport for the large Lao Visa is the last page which I understand I cannot use, I have room for smaller stamps, My question is if i check out of Thailand and go to Laos and try to get in and they say no then where am I at? can I come back to thailand or what? i will not be on overstay for 3 more days, I left a little room in case of problems, Thanks Again

You would be send back to Thailand, as that is the country you were entering Laos from.

My get an emergency travel document from your embassy in Thailand.

But if you were sent back after clearing Thai immigration without a stamp from Laos it could be considered illegal entry and require deportation (this was on home page of one immigration office for several years) but believe this would likely be a 7 days to remove yourself extension of stay situation now.

Thanks to everyone for their info. I sent my girlfriend to the US embassy, Vientiane with a form I found online and received my new 52 page passport today, it is a good idea to ask for the expanded version, same cost, good to go maybe!!!!!

All's well that ends well. Glad to see problem resolved and thanks for the feedback. Be sure to have both with you for next exit.

Denny, thanks for the update.

I have a question or two for you.

When you went to apply for the passport in Laos, was the office busy?

Did you need an appointment?

Thanks

Terry
