Hi All.

planning on taking my son to the UK for xmas.

he has a thai & british birth certificate . no passports(yet) or thai id card (3 years old) . so assume this gives entilment to a UK passport

does he need both a thai & british passport to go ? the thai passport is nice, cheap and quick however the UK side is a pain in the rear having to apply to hong kong.

and it seems if we only get hte UK one we have issues on leving thailand without a entry stamp and overtay issues on rteunt if entry is using a UK passport .

and if we only have the thai one then we may have problems gettign into the UK with a thai passport and british birth certificate only

He cannot enter the UK with a Thai passport unless he has the appropriate visa.

If he enters Thailand with a British passport then he will be treated as British and not Thai for all immigration purposes. Not a big problem at his age, but could cause problems when he is older.

Best to obtain both passports for him and use the Thai one for entering and leaving Thailand and the British one for entering and leaving the UK.
