Thai Postal Service During Floods

Featured Replies

Guys, I'm wondering what the Thai postal service will be doing with the undeliverable mail due to the flooding, and I'd also be interested to find out if their main depots are in flood affected areas. I have quite a few small items on their way from various places around the world, all addressed to my office address in Central Pinklao which is closed, and will probably remain so for quite a while yet judging by the photos I've seen of that area. I've never had any negative experiences with the Thai postal service, but with circumstances as they are I must admit to being a little worried.

Oh, and I realize that this is trivial when so many people are suffering, but nevertheless, I feel it's a valid question as most of the city isn't flooded!

Thanks for any responses :-)

As reported by Thailand Post, the floods have spread to other areas of the country and the following additional postcode areas are affected to a greater or lesser extent by flooding: 30XXX-31XXX and 62XXX.

Operations and deliveries in the following postcode areas have, however, resumed: 20XXX – 23XXX, 27XXX, 35XXX, 42XXX, 48XXX – 49XXX, 55XXX, 58XXX, 67XXX, 81XXX – 86XXX, and 91XXX – 92XXX.

Thailand Post will keep designated operators informed of the situation and thanks them for their understanding and cooperation.

I have in the past week sent parcels to Lomsak in Petchabun Province and to Lahan Sai in Buriram Province via EMS. Both arrived in good order, faster than they do normally. What tees me of is that it takes between 10 and 14 days to get an airmail letter delivered to a London address. Over 55 years ago when I was based in Singapore it took 3 days maximum. Aircraft in those days would make at least two stops en route but now there are several direct nonstop flights per day. Progress?

I received a reply after using the Thailand Post web inquiry form. They told me the items would normally be sent to Taling Chan post office, but that it was flooded. They didn't tell me where my items were instead of being at Taling Chan, instead they just asked for tracking numbers - which I can't give for most items as they were sent from the UK using standard Royal Mail airmail.

Does anyone know which depot they'd be at if waiting to go to Taling Chan? I want to go and collect the items.

Thanks for any replies.
