My fiancee and her daughter (both Thai) and I want to go to one of these SE Sasian countries soon, but I was wondering do they need seperate visas to fly there? Or do they just need their passports?

Also, I need to show my fiancees daughter how to board an aircraft via the international departure lounges at Suvanapuhm Airport - I am guessing that a trip to Loas or Vietname is international and npot domestic right??

For Laos they don't even need a passport, just by showing their ID they can get a pass at a land crossing for, I believe, three days.

I know that doesn't answer the OP's question, but that's already been answered, as they seem to be going to fly, and yes from the international departure area, but it might be of interest to others

Certainly when travelling by air, a passport is essential. And no, Thai's don't need a visa and just get stamped into both those countries for 30 days.

As for border passes - they are generally available to Thai ID card holders and are only valid for LAND BORDER crossings between Thailand and Laos. They allow 3 days entry into the neighbouring country.

Thais don't need visas, you will though.

For you Laos is given on arrival but the 'on arrival' visa for Viet Nam has to be pre-applied for online or you can get a normal visa from your nearest consulate or Embassy.

Look http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_requirements_for_Thai_citizens

Thais get 30 days ON ARRIVAL, I was several times with Thai GF there.

If the Thai, comes by plane to Malaysia it would be wise to have a return ticket, not so much for the Malaysian Immigration-where it can be also a problem, but for the Check In in Thailand.

Europeans get usualy 90 days! And I think by crossing a border you get that 90 days again and again. Thailand look here!!!
