hi,

i have been offered a job in thailand .

could someone tell me ,if having a criminal record for the missues of drugs, eight years ago , will affect me getting a work permit in thailand .

There is no work visa, but to answer your question: no, there are no criminal background checks. Although some consulate do want them if you apply for a non-B visa becasue you have been offered a teaching job.

A work permit also does not require a criminal back ground check, only a small medical examination.

If you do not have a criminal in Thailand, no problem.

Just walk straight into the country. No one will question you and vetting is not required. You will be able to enter and leave at will.

They’re all here, fugitives from justice, drug dealers, child rapists, murderers, illegal over stayers and workers, the scum of the Earth.

Pattaya is usually the first choice of these people, where they can settle in, are left alone and feel completely at home.

If the work permit is to work at a reputable international school, then yes a police check is required. In other words top schools will not go through the hassle of obtaining a work permit if that individual has a problem with a police check from their respective country.
