Hi all, I didn't see anything in one of the pinned topics. If this has been done a hundred times, close the thread , but point me in the right direction, please.

My wife had our baby two months ago. The baby was born at Sriphat.

We have been married for 7 years now, and got married in the US.

Prior to the child being born, we were directed to go to get a Thai marriage license in Hang Dong.

We registered the babies downstairs at Sriphat hospital where they were born in Chiang mai. (where we live)

Aside from what is posted on the American embassy/consulate website, can anyone give me any further advice so that I do not have trouble bringing my family back to the US.

Any threads to look at, recommend lawyers, etc. I just dont' want to have a nightmare with this.

Thank you,

LB #33

Congrats!

Your baby already has US citizenship. What you want is a US passport for them. That should be a routine matter for the US Consulate in CM.

Take the documents they require, should be on their site, take those, plus baby and wife to the consulate and apply.

Your baby won't have a problem entering the US.

Make sure your baby also gets a Thai passport. Also very easy, pretty much the same documents and procedure.

Your baby should leave and enter Thailand on their Thai passport. Enter and leave the US on their US passport.

Your child needs a US State Department Registration of Birth (substitute for birth certificate.) Get the Thai birth certificate translated into english and take it to the CM US Consulate. They will help you fill out the forms. Apply for a passport for the child at the same time. This was very easy when I did it for my kids. What I failed to do was get them on a Tambien Baan and apply a Thai passport. This cause a great deal of problems later when we did get thier Thai passports.
