Civil war is coming to the Trump movement
The Wall Street Journal's Joshua Chaffin and Zusha Elinson reported Friday that two camps within the MAGA world are emerging and will likely battle for supremacy during Trump's second term: on one side are "tech bros racing to create a new future," with Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk as the quintessential example, on the other side are "conservative Catholics who yearn for an imagined past," like Vice President JD Vance, who seek to upend the liberal establishment and return America to a "bygone era." According to Chaffin and Elinson, the "dark prince" of the tech wing of MAGA is Curtis Yarvin, a pro-feudalist writer, who has called for democracy to be replaced with a monarch who would rule the United States like a CEO leads a tech company, whilst the conservative Catholic faction upholds ideologies like that championed by University of Notre Dame political philosopher Patrick Deneen. Catholic theologian David Deane told the Journal that Deneen's 2023 book "Regime Change" offered a prediction that the second Trump administration would put a torch to traditionally liberal institutions like universities, the media and the non-profit sector. Everyone might have a price. You are the second person on this forum to suggest the price to betray your country is $1 million If you rationalise it, its a really bad deal. In Danish Denmark, if you develop cancer, the Danish health service will take care of you. In America, that $1m is gone. And the rest. Those suggesting $1m really are like the fictious Dr Evil in their understanding of the value of money. Possibly because this forum is skewed towards middle aged to elderly men, driven to living in Thailand because of a low cost of living. Yeah, to that lot, one million of anything sounds like a lot.. $1m doesn't get you that spectacular an annuity. Its ok, but not life changing. So, without casting offensive stereotypes about the Danes, what is your personal threshold to betray your country? £30 million might be mine. Electronic transfer. No suitcase needed. Or another way, how much is your vote worth. You make it sound that you can be brought. You think American citizenship is worth $1m. The American President thinks its worth $5m, just another citizenship for sale. -

Thai police identified the suspect as Vasilios, apprehending him in a luxe villa in Bang Lamung on Friday. Officers found, astonishingly, two lions roaming the lavish two-rai property. Vasilios, who also uses the name Billy, was taken into custody by a joint operation between Provincial Police Region 8 and Chon Buri police. The newly revealed details of Vasilios's situation include ownership, via his girlfriend, of the two lions—acquired at staggering prices of one million baht and 700,000 baht, respectively—and a cache of BB guns. Also worth noting is his possession of a Thailand Privilege Card, offering VIP visa status. The intricate case began with complaints from an Australian who claimed robbery of 21 million baht in cash and cryptocurrencies by fellow Australians. The victim alleged brutal threats and identified his assailants as part of a notorious mafia group linked to drugs in Australia. Police reports detail a trail of incidents, starting from a forceful break-in at a Phuket villa, coercing a bank transfer and stealing cash, totaling to a hefty sum. The criminal network, spearheaded by Vasilios, reportedly remained undeterred, chasing the victim down to Koh Samui. There, Vasilios's Thai affiliates compelled the victim to transfer bitcoins worth millions. These misdeeds finally prompted the issuance of arrest warrants across Phuket and Samui, mobilising a police crackdown that halted Vasilios’s opulent Pattaya lifestyle. The operation illustrates a sophisticated international crime web operating with audacity within Thai borders. It underscores the cross-border criminal activities that Thai authorities vigilantly address, reminding the public of the ever-present reach of international crime rings.
