It took me 90 days to get my one-year Non-Imm O (spousal-based) extension this time around -- I had three "application of stay is under consideration" stamps, each one asking me to report back in 30 days. It barely took them two minutes to stamp the "application of stay is permitted" for one more year, and then the officers smiled and said "finished."

When I enquired about the 90-day reporting form (TM 47), they didn't seem to care, but finally brought out the form, and as I was just filling it out, the officer just grabbed it from me, stamped it with the "residence notification" stamp on the top portion (which they keep), and on the bottom (which they tear and give back for carrying along with my passport), the latter also including a date-stamp for reporting back three months from today. The officer did not sign it, just gave me the entire unfilled-form back (including their top half), and that was that...

Oh, I've been going to this provincial Immigration Office regularly for two years, and while they recognize me we are by no means pals.

Questions: Anybody encounter the same? Is this TM 47 any good -- they did not log it anywhere?

This is regulation that seems to come and go. Sometimes they are strict and will fine you, another time it is the reaction you got.

It all depends on which side of the bed they got out of, or perhaps who's bed. :o

Make sure you keep your part of that form, just in case.

I don;t believe they enter any record anywhere, you are allowed to report (ny law) in any immigration office or police station, onthe couple of time I have been late (2000 baht fine) I just said I was very sorry, and they said 'mai pen rai', others have been fined though. It seems the only check is the reciept they give you when you report, Sounds to me like the guy's were just being nice maybe because you have been so often and they know your face. You only have to report every 90 days after you either left and re-entered the country, or you last attended immigration, so your next reporting date is 90 after they stamped your passport unless you leave Thailand

You have to report after 90 days in Thailand and continue to do so every 90 days thereafter that you remain here and the only thing that starts the clock again is a Tm.6 (departure/arrival) or the report form for 90 day Tm47. A visit to immigration does not count unless you fill out a Tm.47

Maybe I'm wrong, but when they renew your visa, that seems to count as reporting, or at least it did for me

Do you have a new Tm.47 receipt in your passport? If you do then you filled (or they) out a new Tm.47 but if you do not have the receipt you have not properly reported.

They used to give me (sometimes) a blank reporting slip, and stamp the reporting slip with a date, that was it :o

Which seems similar to what happened to me. This makes one suspect they are not keeping a log of all our 90-day reporting events, or saving the top half of the TM 47, but that the bottom half is given to us as proof that we did report our whereabouts as required.

An aside: If one does the 90-day report at the local police station, do they also issue the same TM 47 forms? This might be helpful for folks like me that have to make 120-km roundtrips to the Immigration office. Also, if one can report at the police station, why do some people mail in their TM 47s -- is it safer or is the police station a last resort?

Tks to all for their replies.

I never did it at a police station, but other TV members have reported the police not knowing anything about it!, thats why they post, but Immigration do say you can report at a police station, it seems nobody told the police yet :o

The time does not start until you got your visa! When you are under consideration the 90 days don't aply the immigration said to me!

The time starts from the day you enter Thailand and fill out that Tm.6 - But I see then have now made "the first application for extension of stay" the equivalent of your first 90 day report so your next report would then be due 90 day later than your Tm.7 filling. Believe this is another attempt to get the reporting in sync with our normal visits rather than requiring extra trips.
