I'm a citizen of one of only 4 countries in the world that get 90 days (instead of 30) on arrival at the airport. This is without a visa, just on arrival.

I'll be getting an O visa (plus work permit) at the end of December, but my current visa expires at the end of November. So I need an additional month somehow. It's much, much cheaper for me to go to Ranong than to fly out and back in for an additional 90 days. However, this would only work if they give me 30 days in Ranong. I know most people get 15 days, but since I get 90 at the airport, I'm thinking maybe they'll give me 30 on land crossings?

Anyway, I'm having a hard time trying to confirm this. I called my own embassy and they don't know. I asked my local immigration office and they were incredibly confused that I got 90 days, then eventually realized why but still didn't know about Ranong.

Is there a direct phone number I can call in Ranong to find out? I can have somebody call and ask in Thai (since I'm assuming their English is limited).

Four countries? I thought that there were only three, Peru, Brazil and Korea, that had unilateral agreements with Thailand. If you call Ranong more than likely they won't have a clue. Finding the right person is this mess right now might be a real problem and if you are entitled to more than 15 days convincing Ranong when you get there might be even more difficult. I would call 1111, the government hotline, and dial 9 for English. Explain the situation to them and they might call you back. I had a situation at the beginning of the flood and immigration wouldn't answer their e-mail or phones and the local office was flooded so in despiration I called them. I was transfered to someone who understood and spoke perfect English and .to my surprise, she called me back an hour later with the correct information.

Just a suggestion, maybe someone else knows fot sure!

You will get 90 days at both air and land entries.

Are you sure or this is what you suspect will happen?

Those 3 plus mine.

I'll try the hotline. Thanks for the tip!

I did a little research you must be from Chile or Argentina. The only thing that I can find is "Nationals of countries under bilateral agreements will get 30/90 days at airport and land borders" as stated by poorsucker above. The statement that I quoted was from2009 before they changed the 30 to 15 days for land entry. i can not find anything about changing the 90 days.

1. Argentina

2. Brazil

3. Chile

4. Republic of Korea

5. Peru

And the entry is 90 days regardless of how as it is not a visa exemp entry subject to the 15/30 day rule.

So it's five, not four countries. Never knew that.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully I won't have to fight with the immigration officers for the 90 days.

may be you should check if Myanmar will wellcome you.

If you are from one of these 5 countries( Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Republic of Korea, Peru) you will always get 90days.
