Police arrest Pattaya motorbike theft gang

PATTAYA: -- Local Police have arrested 8 men, suspected of being part of a major motorbike theft gang operating in the Pattaya and Banglamung areas. Police Major General Panya, the new Region 2 Police Commissioner, led a press conference in front of Banglamung Police Station on Saturday morning to announce the arrest of two Burmese and six Thai men who are suspected of stealing motorbikes to order. The bikes were then sold to Thai agents who would send them to Burma via Tark Province on the border with Burma. One of the suspects revealed how he would steal the bikes with a pair of wire cutters only and would sell them for between 2,000 and 3,000 Baht.
