What a packed genre this has become !!!

There isn't enough time to read them all. So which get your 'golden handshake' and which get your 'golden shower' ?

Examples !

Jake Needham: 'Big Mango' 'Laundry Man' 'Killing Plato'

Christopher Moore : Calvinos and Smile series

Dean Barrett: Memoirs of a Bangkok Warrior

Alex Garland 'The Beach' (a great read, but I bet nobody chooses it!)

John mc'Call: 'Bangkok a go-go'

Morgan Mc Finn: 'Bamboo Bar'

Steve Van Beek: 'Slithering South'

.... 'Bangkok 8' and many more......

My favourites

Houellebecq's 'Platform' and

David Young's 'Bangkok Joy' (because its theme is not violent and its love of Thailand shines through on every page).

Howabbout you !!!!?

I've read all of Moores novels , enjoyed most of them , Needham is a great read , as is Barrett. Thailand Joy was a very good book , but the bit at the end with kitten/broken back escaped me?

Stephen Leathers "The solitary Man" and " Private Dancer" are notable.

My favourite novel based in Thailand was written 45 years ago " A Woman of Bangkok" , and bugger me I can't remember the Author...........Jack Reynolds...?

I found it in a Guest house in Chiang Rai , and promptly stole it , fantastic read though....
