Sim Solution For Limited 2/3G Access

Recommended Posts

I will be heading to Thailand for the first time (from Australia) and purchasing a smart phone (and kindle) to use for checking emails and some banking stuff while travelling around. Some of my journey will be in cities with 3G where i can probably use an internet cafe. But other times i will be in more remote areas and need to do some stuff - general interest browsing not important. Maybe download a book to put on my kindle. Speed is not important, i dont need to watch videos nor look at colour images etc.

What is the best solution for low usage and limited time each month that has both 2G and 2G access?

thanks

Probably a plain jane One2Call (AIS) prepaid simcard.

Then take the 30 hours 3G/Edge package for 150 Baht.

You'll get 3G where available, everywhere else Edge.

You'll get an sms message if you are in the last 30 minutes.

If you run out of hours, just slap on another pakage e.g. 20 hours for 100 Baht.

Do note that AIS has 3G on 900 Mhz, not many phones/pda's/ebook readers support this. If that is the case you will only get Edge speeds.
