Here comes a 4 part series of videos which shows when my neighborhood in Bkk gets hit by the flood.

My house and school got flooded with about a metre of water and eventually we had to evacuate...

Part 1 shows the preparations with flood barriers and the first 3 days of flooding....

Part 2...Here in the second part water levels keep getting higher so the only moods of transport left are boats, rafts or big military trucks...Unless you wanna wade.

Most people in the neighborhood have either evacuated to evacuation centres or left to stay with relatives in the provinces because their lives here have become unbearable.

After having been holed up a few days on the second floor in the school,we decide to call it quits and leave too.

First we have to evacuate by boat to the highway a couple of km away where the water is shallower...

Part 3...

In the third part of the mini series,we've reached Phet Kasem highway. The water here is a bit shallower because it's higher ground, but it's building up incrementally.

The flood water from Bang Bua Tong in Nonthaburi is moving south towards the sea with about 2 km a day so it's bound the get deeper.

In addition, the Maha Sawat Canal is broken in several places and this has caused flooding throughout the entire Phutthamonthon area and the Bkk Metropolitan Adm is continuously pumping massive amounts of water through the Tawi Watana Canal in order to save the elite in the inner city.

Tawi Watana Rd is completely inundated.

Now we're planning to board a big truck and make our way to dry land along Phet Kasem Rd via the Mall,Bang Khae.

In some deep places even buses and trucks break down.

We start our journey at Moobahnsettakit where we left the boat...Come along... :jap:

Part 4 :jap:

Part four of the series was shot when I hitched a ride in a big truck up to the mainroad, and later during the return leg of the trip by tractor.

The video shows how flood victims push their way through waist deep water in order to get daily food supplies at Phet Kasem highway because almost every shop in the neighborhood has either run out of goods or has been closed down and abandoned by its owner...

TOT should buy this film and show it world wide., Nothing I have seen shows what is so special about Thai people. Now the buracracy and government is another story.

This is how the house looked like when the water first broke in through the floor and bedroom walls at about two in the night and then kept rising to over a metre in the following days.

Now it's a month later and there's about 40 cm water left on the floors and the whole neighborhood is still inundated.

Protesters threaten to close Phet Kasem Rd at Moobahnsettakit next week if the government doesn't start pumping out the water from our streets and stops Tawi Watana Canal from overflowing...

You've done a great job of creating your own personal account of the floods, I'm so sorry for you and all the affected people having to endure such conditions. It's a real tragedy that it's still flooded, how awful.

Thank you very much for your kind post Khun Aussiebebe...:jap:

Somehow the picture in the last video became microscopic and hard to view so I've resized and made it larger.:jap:

Part 5...but not yet the aftermath...

Our home got badly damaged during Thailand's worst flood ever and can probably not be repaired.

After more than one month,there's still 30-40 cm of dirty water left on the floors and we're forced to live in exile;

The Thai government is pumping out massive amounts of water through the canals to the suburbs in western Bangkok.

In order to keep the inner city dry, they flood our area with over a metre of water which destroys thousands of homes and several lives. :shock1:

An alarming account of the hardship you and many Thai citizens faced and who some continue to endure. It must be truly awful to be in such a position & still not be in the clear! We can only hope 2012 brings you & those affected some better times and good fortune.

Sorry to hear about your flooding I didn't view all the vids as your description sounds so much like our own circumstances except we got out the moment it was flowing into our house and it was obvious I could no longer hold it back as I had run out of energy to fight and monitor pumps etc. 24/7 another failure of such a slow moving train wreck, so now we are finally dry and getting somewhat back to normal after some weeks of evacuation.

I fear now for the foundation of these houses as they have endured a long term slow, high pressure saturating and severe pressure build up from below which is certain to undermine many of them in the long term and some in the near term. We already have very severe cracking in our front drive as does my neighbor that was not there prior and it indicates that the house "floated" and has now begun to settle which the lack of some moderate rain is going to make even more severe as it dries too quickly and the ground shrinks rapidly..

Plumbing is also going to give way and burst, unfortunately just drying out is not going to solve the months and even years of damage this has caused.

Someone else said to me that it would have likely been worse had it come up faster but not necessarily as the ground around here is very compact and mostly clay so if it had come and gone quicker it would have mostly just flowed over the top with less long term damage unlike the slow high pressure rising damage that has been caused now..

I wish you all the best in the new year to your recovery and that's a blanket well wish to all likewise flood victims.. Songkran is out for me next year, I've seen enough water now to last the duration of my stay here, thank you very much.
