Need some help to sort out this mess please, as very confused.

On the 14th May I obtained an Ed visa (single entry). Was stamped until 1st August.

I obtained an 30 day extension on that, on the 2nd August as i was in hospital (done on my behalf).

I went to immigration on the 25th August with correct documentation and was stamped until 30 November 2012 and given a 90 notification slip (to report on 22nd November).

Walen (my school) gave me a ton of new paperwork recently. I went in to immigration and they said i dont need to give that, just need to give 90 day notification.

I asked the school why all the paperwork. They now said i should have been stamped 30th november 2011 (not 2012) and need to apply for a further 6 months stay (and pay 1900 baht). But immigration did not take the paperwork, they said i only needed to do 90 day notification.

Walen has told me i need to sort it out as the stamp is incorrect.

Last time i did an Ed visa (a couple of year ago), i had a one year stamp and just had to do 90 day notifications. So..what is going on? Any idea?

Is this going to be a problem?

Help very much appreciated.

An extension on an ED-visa is normally indeed only 90 days for studying at a language school and not for 1 year. But in your case it is even more than for 1 year, suggesting there is indeed a mistake been made as you seem to have gotten an extension of stay for 15 months, which is by no account right.

Visit immigration again and point it out to them to have it corrected, otherwise they might consider you on overstay if they later find out.

Your extension appears to be until 30 November 2011 as your 30 day medical got you to end of August and the normal 90 day ED extension then to 30 November this year. As you extended a bit before expiration of previous extension your 90 day would be due a bit early (22 Nov) and when you did the 90 day they just read the misprint date on your extension stamp and believed you had a valid until until late next year. As said it is wrong and should be corrected or you risk overstay charges. I suspect the medical extension makes it difficult to get a quick read but when you next go to extend they will catch it so best to take care now before overstay costs increase.
