I need some clarification from resident visa experts prior to doing my annual visa extension this week.

First of all I obtained a 1 year multiple entry Non B visa in the UK back in June 2002 but the work opportunity didn't materialise. In March 2003 following marriage this visa was extended based on the marriage until December 2003 and stamped Thai wife. Since then every extension has been made on the basis of marriage and 400,000 baht in the bank even though I started working with work permit after the marriage. So my first question is do I still have a non B visa or has it been converted to Non O as extensions are based on marriage?

The matter has now been confused today by my office manager after consultation with Immigration. She has stated that my visa is still considered a Non B and extensions would be based on employment purely, or a combination of employment and marriage requirements. The latter is quite confusing. What exactly is meant by this. I have always extended following the various requirements for extension based on marriage. Also if I ceased employment would I be required to leave the country within 7 days as with Non B extensions based solely on employment?

She also wants to me to use my monthly salary for the financial requirement rather than money in the bank. In addition

I was told that work permits are no longer issued for Non O visa holders but this contradicts what I have read on this site before. Is this true?

One final question. What is the timeline these days for accepting the bank letter of 400,000 Baht in account for Immigration to accept. Again I was told today that the letter must be prepared on the day of extension which is impractical and my letters previously have always been accepted dated 2/3 days prior to the visit to Immigration with my passbook updated on the day.

I was at Immigration last week, on one of the forms it said about Visa, I naturally put down O based on marriage, but the officer informed me it should be B as that is what I was originally issued.

My company were told I had to change from a Non Immigrant O which is what I believed I had to a Non Immigrant B, before a WP would be issued.

I never do the bank letter so cannot give any assistance there.

You are on an extension of stay for "Thai wife" as indicated in your passport. You had a non immigrant visa entry (type is not a factor) thus allowing extension. You would not have to leave if your job ended. You should be able to continue to receive work permits (it is a non immigrant O visa issued for retirement that normally does not allow a work permit to be issued). You should be able to continue using bank deposit. The requirement is two months in account and bank letter varies by office. If using Bangkok Chiang Watanna it is not a problem getting same day as banks have offices on ground floor but normally they only require an ATM or passbook update I believe if letter is previous day.
