But we shouldn't forget to look at what the cabinet is doing in her absence.

Of course !!!....well done...this is a ruse....everyone one is focusing on the PM's bottom and they will slip the pardon bill through for Brother #1......brilliant politics...

Just need one of the stooges to go 'whoop whoop whoop whoop whoop' now and the stage is set.

You are starting to resonate with this thread aren't you ? :)

The PM seems to have a black cloud following, no matter where she goes, (radar goes on the blink), exhaustion (take a couple days off at house), cold feet (travel out of country at opportune time), now we have food poisoning (upset tummy, go to hospital). Those who fill in are appear just as inept, but more vocal horses <deleted>.

I will shed crocodile tears next year.

PM'S SICK

Yingluck's trip to Vietnam Wed in doubt

The Nation

Doctors will keeping Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra under observation at least for today after she was hospitalised with food poisoning.

Dr Arthit Jiaranaisilawong, assistant director of Rama IX Hospital, said Yingluck's condition has improved though she still showed signs of fatigue.

"The premier is suffering from food poisoning. She will be under observation at the hospital at least until this evening. She is now better but appears tired. If her condition is better, she could be discharged from the hospital today. If not, the doctors would like to examine her again tomorrow," the doctor said.

Doctors suspect her condition may be caused by seafood Yingluck ate on Monday. They have recommended that she rests for a few days, he said.

Yingluck was admitted to the hospital around 3pm after suffering vomiting, diarrhoea and fatigue.

Whether Yingluck can travel to Vietnam on Wednesday for an official visit depends on her condition, the doctor said. All her appointments on Tuesday including the weekly cabinet meeting have been cancelled due to her illness.

Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit chaired the meeting on her behalf.

This is the second time that Yingluck has been absent from the cabinet meeting. On November 15, she was stranded in Sing Buri province after visiting flood-hit victims. Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung chaired the meeting as Yongyuth was with Yingluck in Sing Buri.

The November 15 meeting became controversial as the cabinet considered royal pardon bill for convicts in commemoration of HM the King’s birthday on December 5.

The bill draft was reportedly amended to cover Yingluck’s brother, fugitive ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra. Yingluck’s absence from the meeting was criticised as being deliberate to distance herself from the matter.

In keeping with the general seriousness and sobriety of this thread, I'd like to suggest that it was an assassination attempt by anti-democratic forces. The seafood sellers should be sued long and hard.

did she eat some food meant for the flood victims?

No, h90, you must be thinking of that consignment of rotten tinned fish that was given to flood victims by Abisit's government a few years back. :whistling:

I'm surprised that hasn't been mentioned by Jatuporn yet. I'm sure he's got evidence that he's going to bring out ... eventually.

I was not aware that diarrhea needed hospitalization.

Then again most people who get diarrhea are not due to chair a cabinet meeting with some anti Thai shenanigans being discussed.:jap:

Not to mention 'top-level leaks', oops !

Good to hear that the PM is recovering.

PM Asked to Take Leave to Recover from Food Poisoning

A doctor of Rama 9 Hospital, where the prime minister has been admitted for food poisoning, advises her to take leave for one or two days to rest and recuperate from her illness.

Government Spokeswoman Thitima Chaisaeng said before today's Cabinet meeting that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra would not attend the session as she has been suffering from food poisoning since this morning.

She is now receiving treatment at Rama 9 Hospital.

The prime minister assigned her deputy and Interior Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit to preside over today's Cabinet meeting while she is taking a sick leave.

Assistant Director of Rama 9 Hospital Doctor Arthit Jiaranaisilawong said Yingluck was admitted around 3.30 P.M. for having symptoms of queasiness and physical fatigue.

Arthit has cleared her of any possible side-effects of food poisoning and has ordered the premier to rest for the next few days.

The doctor went on to say the prime minister could be allowed to leave the hospital today, if she regains enough strength.

Guess you don't know much about serious illness then, diarrhea is the second leading cause of death among infants in the world and is a common cause of death in developing countries. I have met people who have been hospitalized due to severe diarrhea from food poisoning because they become so dehydrated so quickly, Anyone who thinks this is a funny experience has clearly not suffered it.

I don't know if that is true or not....how can tinned fish rotten???

But in fact we didn't get anything in now more than 1 month in the flood from Government.

To be fair, I think most people draw a clear distiction between diarrhea and dysentery. The OP didn't lead anyone to believe it was the latter disorder the PM was dealing with. :wai:

When I hear she speaking I think a child is speaking, but her body is well grown up......so we don't need to worry for our premier.

Perhaps something sitting in the sun for the past 3 months...as usual...Like some fly covered fish or beef, pork, chicken, seaweed, frog, bad noodles, birds nest soup....or some other crap Asians eat....Poetic justice for sure....

I agree with your comments re the condition, and how serious it can be (mostly without good treatment( young and old) are mostly the sufferers in the extreme cases. Posters are really doubting the seriousness in this instance, because of a few hours only for checks--and the timing-coincidence- and the absence to be in places at certain times, when you as a P.M. should be there. The avoidance of questions posed, especially on'' family matters'', and direct questions needing straight answers concerning serious situations. It is this "I don't know, but will tell you when I do" attitude or wait till 6 months are up and you will see then???? If she could act as an independent -strong-direct-decision making-diplomat-caring, she would then receive more understanding and respect.

Doesn't everyone get diahorea from time to time in Thailand? Never knew anyone who had to go to hospital though.

And I have known several, so what does that mean?

The only facts people have is she has food poisoning - something I have seen hospitalize people half her age, so presumably stronger and healthier. Some of the posts here are, IN MY PERSONAL OPINION, total nitpicky, petty attitudes. Criticize her policies, criticize her handling of the flood crisis, criticize her Cabinet. But to pick on someone because they have food poisoning seems to me to be rather small minded.

And nobody here seems to have any evidence beyond their own imaginations that it is anything other than food poisoning and one that is serious enough to require a hospital (and yes, as I said, they do happen, I have seen it, more than once so it CAN happen).

Just my two cents in a thread that seems to have brought out some seriously petty attitudes. And no, I am not a fan, I am just being reasonable.

I have. The issue is not just the loss of fluids (I drank a lot of water thinking this would be enough), but the electrolyte imbalance. Now, I always keep electrolyte drinks in the house, just in case. It can happen to anyone, even you.

To all of you who are so deeply saddened by the fact that so many people seem so ready to take the piss out of the PM ( or is it the shit in this instance). Have a thought for the millions, wading waste deep in shit for a much longer period than one night, and no doubt being all tucked up in a nice hospital bed in a private room with her remote control TV , no doubt being waited on hand and foot,, and let them vent.
