January 12, 200422 yr I read in the Bangkok Post a couple weeks ago that under Thai immigration law, a foreigner who travels to another province within the Kingdom MUST notify the local authorities of one's arrival within 48 hours. Not doing so is against the law. Does anyone actually do this?

January 12, 200422 yr If you stay at a hotel they will/should be doing a report. That is why they need your passport information at check-in. But from Post article today is seems some of the cheaper places may not be doing this on a regular basis.

January 12, 200422 yr Ok, and I thought that was just to have your Visa and Passport number if someone ever left the hotel forgetting to pay the bill....
January 14, 200422 yr Lopbur -- Not just hotels but anywhere you stay. I saw a list of Thai laws currently on the books that no one pays much attention to anymore. One of them says Thai nationals have to notify the police anytime a foreigner stays overnight in their homes.
