webfact
World Court's Preah Vihear Trial Likely in Mid-2012 The foreign minister says the International Court of Justice will start its hearing into Cambodia's petition to seek interpretation of the 1962 verdict on the Phrea Vihear dispute next year. Foreign Minister Surapong Towichakchaikul said Cambodia will submit its petition with the International Court of Justice, or ICJ, in March next year and the trial should begin around June. The Cambodian government is urging the ICJ to interpret the 1962 verdict on Cambodia's dispute with Thailand over the ownership of the Preah Vihear Temple. In its original verdict, the court only ruled Cambodia owns the right on the temple, but it never determined which country is entitled to the sovereignty over the land which the temple sits on and its vicinity. Surapong stated Thailand has already submitted a statement to dispute Cambodia's claim. The minister added Defense Minister General Yutthasak Sasiprapa has said that conclusion from the Thai-Cambodian General Border Committee meeting scheduled for December 21 will be forwarded for Cabinet consideration. Parliamentary approval is also required under the Constitution's Article 190. -- Tan Network 2011-12-

bigbamboo
So Thailand is saying that although the temple is Cambodian the land it's built on is deemed Thai. That all sounds familiar. Plus ca change!
