Passport Expiry

I have to renew my yearly retirement extension of stay in March.My passport expires in August.Do I have to renew my passport before I can get a new extension of stay?

As passport is almost useless with less than six months you should indeed get a new passport sooner rather than later. They can provide extension up to expiration of passport but with less than six months remaining not sure they would so I would get before extension.
