December 15, 201114 yr Hello. I remember reading some mention of potential problems with having an ED visa for a school in one province while living in another. Do such problems only arise when the provinces are far apart? I am interested in getting an ED visa from a school on Sukhumvit Road, but I will live in Nonthaburi, not far from the Bangkok immigration office on Chaengwattana Road. I'm guessing this wouldn't be a problem, but can anyone confirm?
December 15, 201114 yr If you live in Nonthaburi you would have to use the Bangyai office when it has reopened, not Chaengwattana. I work in Bangkok but have to do all my immigration stuff at Bangyai, so I suppose you would have to do the same, as it is where you reside that is the important factor
December 15, 201114 yr The OP's question is interesting and, I believe, applies in an analogous manner to persons on an extension of stay for employment. Disregarding the temporary situation of some immigration offices relocated because of floods, the question can generically be put this way: When an applicant for extension of stay for the reason of study lives in the service area of an immigration office that is not in the same service immigration area where the school is located, at which immigration office must he apply for the extension of stay? I do not know the answer but perhaps there are some members who are in this situation and can report their experience. Macwalen, do you have any such case with your students? The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
December 16, 201114 yr I believe you must report to the office for the area where you reside. In This case, studying in Bangkok while living in Nonthaburi wouldn't look strange, as they are very near and I suspect you are not the only person in this situation.
