My Friend has been here on a Marry Visa for 8. Years. He lost the Visa by not having the Cash in long enough, and was sent to Laos for some other type. He is due to report on the Day his Wife's Boy gets Wed .What chance does he have of going Before, or After. Ive told him no way.?

Need more info. What type of visa does he have? What , why and where does he have to report?

Wayned..To Renew his Marry Visa that expired last year. Reports to Mae Sot. Dont know what Visa hes on now, .Whatever they told him to get in Laos to cover the 3 Months of 400K in the Bank. Hes been to Lao 3 times allready. His track record not very good, hes an Academic , and forgets things important. Hes already been told he will be charged again 3500 Bht , for a repeat visit to her house, and must go through the whole procedure for a Marry Visa again on the 19th. The day the kid gets wed..

Why would it be a fixed date - you have the choice of when you want to make the application during the last 30 days of any 90 day stay (and it should be at least a week early to allow for any missing items). Also the period for money to be in account for marriage is 2 months. You always have to go through the same procedure - but a charge to visit house is not authorized by any regulations that I am aware of.

O.K. 2 Months then. Must be a bit skint if 4 weeks makes a difference.biggrin.gifThe 19th is the Day he has stamped to report. .and re apply for Marriage visa. The Police will instigate a Visit , if they see fit..No Regs needed. But is a Wedding going to be considered for a Date Change.?.If he messes about much longer his Lao issue Visa expires. I personally think hes rubbed them up the wrong way for years with his bad reporting. I reckon its back to Lao again..

A police visit is expected - a charge is not.

If he obtained something from Laos it must be a single entry non immigrant O visa and immigration has nothing to do with that - he can visit any time near the end of that stay and apply for one year extension of stay - there should not be any mark in his passport other than the normal permitted to stay until date on his arrival stamp that needs to be considered - and that is not when he should report but the last chance - he should report at least a week earlier.

He will enjoy telling Im Police they are welcome but no Charge Accepted.. Now i find out hes desperate to get the Marry Visa , cause he needs to get his hands on the 400K tied up. You are correct ,, and the 19th is the last chance week and the money hasnt been in 2 Months yet.. This will be his 3rd consecutive Non Im O from Lao on the trot. Is that another prob..?.

Single entry visa is not normally a problem on the number obtained. If he does not need the extension and 90 day border runs easy he might consider getting a multi entry non immigrant O to cover the next year-15 months. Savannakhet seems to issue even without proof of funds but with proof of bank account with 400k would be easy there.

Thanks for Advice and Info, i will post how it Pans Out in the end. He really is an awkward Man. If i mentioned the merits of Savannnakhet , a lecture on rule bending would ensue. I recon a Ticket back Home isnt far off at this rate.. Let U Know .biggrin.gif

Because Terry ,he is an Englishman , who expects the Brit Rules in London to apply in Manchester , and Thailands Rules should be the same.. And quite rightly so. I go with the Flow , but he fights it. biggrin.gif
