Hi,

I am currently thinking of installing NGV or LPG in my Accord, what would that cost and what benefits would there be with that?

I love my car and I don't want to wreck it, so any information would be very nice...

Pros and Cons...

top speed is not important as I seldom drive over 140kmph - speed is for the bike!

would you want to void your warranty on a new 1.250.000 car?

hondas engines are designed for petrol/gasohol, and the 2,0 is the most powerfull NA in the world as in Civic R at 200hp. great engines.

but their combustion chamber is not designed for the higher combustion temp from LPG or the much higher temp from CNG

we did 60 LPG 2,0 taxis for Honda Scandinavia. Most managed only 60k km, some 100k km (max one year use). Parts needing replacing where in worst case: Head, valves and stempler (forgot the english word, but I know OP understands)

In answer to the OP's question, a reputable nationwide company like 'Versus' would certainly fit LPG to your Accord - their website has videos of the Chevy Captiva and BMW M3 - but as TBB has noted, the draw-back is that you'll invalidate your warranty (if applicable) and the Accord's engine isn't designed to run on gas. Versus systems are around 22-24k, plus 8k if you want a donut tank in the wheel well, but plenty of other companies sell superior systems for up to 40k.

You can find pictures on other websites of Accord conversions- it looks like a one-way street (ie no going back), I think the Accord is a fabulous car and I'd be really mindful of a bunch of non-Honda trained 'mechanics' messing around with the engine and drilling holes. Notice the way they drill holes in the bodywork and chassis to accommodate the tank and they put the lines under the car and the filling cap OUTSIDE the car at the rear under the trunk.

I've toyed with the idea of LPG on my City, but come to the conclusion it's not worth the extra servicing and maintenance hassle on the low mileage I do.

The big problem is the future price of LPG is in question. There have been dozens of articles from Thai newspapers over the past two years about the Thai government's plan to float the price of LPG, yet the price has remained unchanged. It'd be good to know before doing a conversion as LPG sold at it's correct price (I think 30baht) would be more expensive than gasoline.
