Bit Of Advice Please...

Hi,

My current visa runs out on the 30th. I've got all the necessary documents for an Ed Visa and am due to travel to Vientiane on the 28th to get it processed at the embassy there. However due to the way my classes are lumped together, I get about four free days a week and now I'll probably do quite a lot of travel this year in between school. So ideally I'd like a multiple entry one but all reports seems to suggest Vientiane only do single entry.

So what I was wondering is this...

I'm due to go to London for a week or so mid-January anyway. I could apply for the multiple entry at the Thai Embassy in London. So would I be better just nipping over to Singapore or Hong Kong for a day, flying back, getting the 30 day stamp, and applying for multiple entry Ed Visa in London? That sounds like a better plan, doesn't it..?

How much hassle are the re-entry permits though if I only get a single entry... is there a limit to how often you can have them... or does it just mean an annoying bunch of form filling and waiting at the airport each time I leave...?

Appreciate any opinions. Thanks. smile.gif

You can get as many single re-entry permits as you want. It is filling in a form and giving 1,000 baht and a passport photo and normally you have your (single) re-entry permit within 10 minutes.

Suspect you will get a single ED-visa, at that seems to be the norm nowadays. If you want a mutiple ED-you might try a honorary consulate in the UK and see if they will issue. (Hull will now only issue single ED-visa).

Ah okay, appreciate the reply.

If London's not doing multiples then I guess I'll just get the single and do re-entry permits on departure at the airport.

Thanks.

Hull will now only issue single ED-visa

Hull revised their rules earlier this month and according to their website, will now issue both single and multiple entry ED visas.

And Hull's visa turnaround time is excellent (usually returned by post in a couple of days), so posting the forms from London if you're there for 1 week, would be more than enough time in my opinion.

Thanks for the update about Hull. That would than be indeed the best option for the OP.

Cheers- I might just take a detour to Hull then when I'm back then. Appreciate the post, thanks.

Look at their webiste. it is easy to apply by mail. Send by express mail, send it day 1 and get it back on day 3.
