Until recently I was in Thailand for years on a Non-Immigrant B Visa plus Work Permit. No longer working; been on a Double-entry Tourist Visa for the past 6 months. Will I be able to get 15 days on arrival from Thai Immigration at Aranyaprathet/Poipet?

Does the no-more-than-90-days-within-6-months rule apply in this situation?

I'm about to start studying on an education visa which I will apply for in Penang. Unfortunately my tourist visa expires right before Chinese New Year, and the Penang consulate will be closed for two days. I don't really want to waste any days just hanging out in Penang waiting for the consulate to reopen. I'd much rather do a quick border run to Poipet first and then head to Penang after Chinese New Year. Will I be in the clear?

This rule was scrapped in Nov-2008

So you can now get an unlimited number of visa exemptions on arrival?

Thanks. I might actually go somewhere else by air earlier in the month. So I guess coming in by air won't be a problem either, especially without any previous visa-exempt stamps in place.

My passport is bursting at the seem with Thai stamps - because Immigration has such a stamp-happy policy - but none of them are exemption-on-arrival stamps.
