I understand this phrase word for word, but can't quite seem to figure out the meaning as a whole . . . ideas?

รักก็รักเล่นๆแต่ทำมั้ย!

As a Thai myself, I'm not even sure what it means. But if I have to guess, the phrase is almost equivalent to something like 'she's not my type, but I'd still do her.'

hmmmm I guess I should post the full phrase and the context . . . A girl said this to a guy (not me haha).

I'm almost thinking that ทำมั้ย is really ทำไม, and that the speaker said something like "you play around with love but why!. . . does it f'ing hurt?"

no ทำมั้ย means ทำไหม meaning "do you do it?" not as the meaning of "why".

It's common way for Thais write มั้ย instead of ไหม because when spoken, people tend to say ไหม as มั้ย (different tone)

ทำไม can sometimes be written as ทำมัย in chat etc, but มั้ย definitely means ไหม

Yea, I know. But I'm debating if it was an intentional mis-spelling to modify emphasis . . . kinda like when Thais say มั๊กมาก . . .

ทำมั้ย in this sentence is exactly from ทำไม. Sometimes you might hear people say ทำมั้ย ทำไม ทำไม when they are in the mood of "I really don't understand 'why'".

The whole sentence means did not seriously love [him](just play around with him), but why ...it's really hurt (when we break up) (the love was not real, but the hurt why so real),
