webfact
2011 POLITICAL VIOLENCE Abhisit ready to answer summons on red-shirt crackdown The Nation Opposition leader and former premier Abhisit Vejjajiva said he is prepared to meet the police and other related agencies to answer questions related to the 91 deaths during the April-May 2010 military crackdown on red shirts. The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) said the investigation into the 91 deaths should be completed by the end of this year. Abhisit said yesterday that he has yet to be formally summoned by police or the NACC, adding he does not want the matter to be unduly prolonged as well. Asked by reporters whether he was worried, Abhisit, who was then the prime minister, replied that he was not worried at all as what he had done in 2010 was under the law and constitution. He said he had tried his best to ensure the least casualties among civilians but insisted the red-shirt protesters were armed. There are a lot of details, said Abhisit, adding that he is ready to explain it all. Meanwhile, the NACC assured yesterday that if any state officials acted unduly they would face justice and the commission will be fair to both parties to the conflict. Both Abhisit and then deputy premier Suthep Thaugsuban are expected to be summoned and more forensic details will be sought. Vicha Mahakun, an NACC commission member, said the commission has already received information related to 16 deaths of which 13 of them originally came from the Department of Special Investigation. However, there's still a lack of information on who ordered the crackdown, how the chain of command worked as well as events on the ground where fatalities occurred. With regard to cases which concluded that security officers were responsible for the death, there are still no details on which units were responsible. "So far, the NACC has got well-rounded information, including from red-shirt leaders like Natthawut Saikua and Veera Musigapong as well as from the military. Totally there were a few hundreds testimonies. Most said there were men in black shooting at civilians and none said security officers shot civilians as those who were shot are dead. So we lack the information about the time when the incidents took place and how it happened and who was responsible for those areas and which force shot civilians," said Vicha, adding the commission will conclude all cases by the year's end. -- The Nation 2012-01-

Instead it looks to a future of lies and deceipt so criminals can avoid punishment .

LindsayBKK
And have the Red Shirt Mafia paid for Damages to Central World, Center One and Big C? Has Mr. Watermelon been summoned? He was in charge of the military not Khun Abhisit. As always Thailand has got it back to front. Moruya
post #2 must be a GK zombie, just not as verbose. The simple truth is that Abhisit faces up to any allegations against him as an honourable man. He could, I guess, run away and live in Dubai.
backtonormal
Lack of information as to who ordered the crackdown and the chain of command and orders were obeyed and if not who disobeyed them. The rest is irrelevant at this stage. Maybe a suggestion not to squeeze this pimple to hard because it may unearth the real power people of Thailand. Whatever the buck has to stop with somebody and some people would like the buck to stop just short of themselves so Abhisit will most probably carry the can for this lot

Well watching some vids on youtube my thai colleague translated 'good shot hes down' snipering a thai citizen from 100 yards armed with an home rocket and no direct threat to any troops smacks of a shoot to kill policy. Dont worry soon the dirty washing will be hanging in the Thai wind and then hopefully blamed will be laid at the feet of the guilty but I doubt it. Abhisit and his sidekick the 'horriblew litle man' will bear most. Not fair really as they had little say in who shot who Edited January 5, 2012 by metisdead Repaired the reply. Instead it looks to a future of lies and deceipt so criminals can avoid punishment . Please list and highlight some of these great achievements. Some of the events that come to mind are ministers that distinguished themselves with accusations of corruption and payoffs, without any ramifications. Mr. Abhisit made claims of honesty and integrity, yet he did not address the ministers that faced the allegations of serious corruption. Mr. Abhisit now sits in caucus with an alleged murderer that is accused of having planned and carried out a brutal killing. Mr,. Abhisit has the power to ask the accused murderer to excuse himself from caucus until such time as the serious allegation is cleared. Unfortunately, Mr. Abhisit has not exercised such moral courage nor taken such an ethical stand. So yes, please go on and list his accomplishments.
