You can enter Thailand and obtain a 30 entry visa with only a one way ticket.

You may be able to if the airline does not require that you have an onward ticket leaving Thailand during the 30 day period. But they might not allow you to board the flight if you do not have the onward ticket. Recent reports indicate that many airlines are enforcing the rule even though Thai immigration is not.
