Returning From Laos Via The Friendship Bridge (Vientiene)

Featured Replies

dear all, I want to return from Vientiene to Thailand using the friendship bridge. Once I an stamped out of laos, and stamped back into Thailand what sort of transport options are there to take me either to Nong Khai, or preferably direct to Udon Thani, from where i will fly back to CM.

Thanks

DrF.

all kinds of shared vans. Figure between 200 and 400 baht per person. I usually get the van on the Laos side and they wait for you on the Thailand side and take you where ever in Udon Thani. Basically the same price on either side but more negotiating potential on the Thai side.

Thanks Dave 2, looks like a nice vip style bus. Now that you have been kind enough to post the pic......do you know the name of the company? I will get my hotel to make a booking for me if possible.

Yes, i am lazy,

Regards, DrF

thats just the official bus that leaves from the vientiane main bus station and terminates at the main central Udon Thani bus station.

They run about every 2 hours. Have to buy the ticket the day of the trip. Also if you want to take the bus that goes thru then need to present your passport and visa. So don't think your going to buy a bus ticket before you pick up your visa.

It's a bargain at 22,000 kip or thereabouts. 80 baht.

Sometimes it can be pretty crowded on the bus and I often have to wait around but fortunately there is an air conditioned mall across the street.
