Hi Folks

First thanks to the forum for help in getting our original Visa, with all this knowledge available it gives confidence to go it alone.

Pa and her son got their settlement visas in November 2009 and now’s the time for ilr.

My stepson decided he wanted to use my family name so we changed both his names by deed poll and now everyone can pronounce his name!

He is known at school and by the GP by this name, but his Thai passport has his Thai name. He is 13 years old (and I’m 10 years older since he came to stay!)

Have just tried to book an appointment at Croydon via the internet and realised using his new name will cause problems as it’s not the same as his Thai passport.

1. Is it best to use his Thai name, or go with evidence of his change of name?

2. On the joint Set (M) form it only asks for date of birth, name, nationality, relationship and who pays for him and to provide his passport.

Does he need to go to the interview? Are any other documents needed for him?

Would appreciate any help offered.

If I fail in this application thats the price of 720 beers at spoons down the pan and a good beating from the wife burp.gif

Thanks in advance

The ILR vignette will be attached to a page in his passport so will have to match the name on that. It is not a problem using different names to those on the passport unless there is the intention to deceive!! I would be surprised if any other name will be accepted without changing the name in the passport.

My wife and step-daughter still use their Thai names on passports but use the British surname day to day.

Thanks for your reply, going this week after spending the weekend sorting and copying.

Thought this was easier than the settlement visa but seemed to take just as long making sure I hadnt forgotten anything, and the folder is just as thick!

Cheers
