kurtmartens
Savaan Hotel & Casino is, in my opinion, still the best. Clean rooms, decent food and free airport transfers (and free transfer to the Thai Consulate).
richardshane
Also if you join their members club(casino) before paying for room you will get your room for half price...so you only end up paying 1,000 baht per night which is very reasonable. There is no need to spend any money in the casino, I'm not a gambler and didnt spend a baht there just remember to go to the desk area right after the entrance join and get your member card then book and pay for your room. The buffet breakfast was also included but after going into the buffet area which was packed with Issan farmers we decided to forgo the experience. We drove across the friendship bridge in our own vehicle so we were lucky to be able to cruise around at our leisure otherwise the hotel is not within walking distance to anything other than a few old restaurants on the road to the casino, there are no 7-11's around so maybe bring some water and cup of noodles, pepsi, or beer. Don't get a room overlooking the casino or you will be listening to the casino all night long, we had a room looking over the pool which was very quiet, Also I do not think they have wifi but for a couple of night its no big deal, we drove around the area quite a bit and this is by far the best place to stay as far as I was concerned if your on a budget I did notice a couple of places to stay close to the embassy(500 baht ??) but for the 1000 baht a night that we paid it was well worth it.
