Teenage Girl Hit by Motorcycle While Using Zebra Crossing in Samut Prakan
Picture from responders A 16-year-old female student was injured after being struck by a speeding motorcycle while crossing a zebra crossing in Samut Prakan. The incident occurred at the entrance of Soi Thetsaban Bang Pu 22 (Suksanti) in Mueang district on the evening of 19 February. At approximately 17:00, the Samut Prakan emergency response centre received a report of a collision involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian. Rescue personnel from the Samut Prakan Municipality were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the injured student, referred to only as Ms A, lying on the road. She was conscious and able to respond to questions but had sustained abrasions and pain throughout her body. After receiving first aid at the scene, she was transported to hospital for further treatment. Nearby, a blue-and-black Honda Sonic motorcycle, registered in Samut Prakan, was found stationary. The rider, who was present at the scene, claimed he was returning home from work and had not been drinking. According to a friend of the injured student, the group had just finished school and were crossing the road on the designated pedestrian crossing. All other vehicles had stopped to allow them to pass, but as they were about to reach the other side, the motorcycle sped through and struck the victim. A local resident who witnessed the accident stated that the motorcycle had been travelling at high speed. “Other vehicles had already slowed down to stop and the girl started crossing when she saw there were no cars moving. But the motorcycle came quickly and hit her,” they explained. A delivery rider, who also witnessed the incident, added that the motorcycle had approached at speed, before hitting the student. “There were three students crossing together. Two managed to reach the other side, but one hesitated when she saw the motorcycle coming. The rider didn’t brake at all and hit her full force, causing her to be thrown into the air. When he got off his bike, he simply said he hadn’t seen her and even complained that he was frustrated,” the witness recounted. The crash highlights ongoing concerns over road safety and driver awareness at pedestrian crossings. Local authorities are expected to investigate the incident further. -- 2025-02-21 -

Illegal Dentist Arrested in Banglamung , Over 100,000 Baht in Equipment Seized
Picture of arrest. In a coordinated operation, authorities from the Second Region Police and Chonburi Public Health Department have arrested a 22-year-old woman, Patcharin, who was illegally operating as an orthodontist from her residence. At approximately 10:10 on 19 February, Police Major General Thirachai Chamnarmor, along with health officials and consumer protection officers, conducted the raid at a property located in Soi Banglamung 25/8, Banglamung district. The operation resulted in the seizure of orthodontic supplies, including orthodontic rubber bands, metal wires, braces, dental cleaning machines, mouthwash, and various other dental products, totalling 37 items valued at over 120,000 baht. The authorities initiated the investigation following reports from consumers about a woman offering illegal orthodontic services, including cosmetic braces and dental prosthetics, advertised through Facebook. Undercover agents posed as customers, arranging an appointment for cosmetic orthodontic work and transferring a 100-baht deposit before entering the premises for the service, leading to the arrest. During questioning, Patcharin revealed that she had been providing these services for over a year, primarily advertising on Facebook groups related to Pattaya. She claimed to have no formal dental training and learned the trade from someone who sold dental equipment. She offered services both at her residence and at clients’ locations, with promotional rates ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 baht. Her monthly income from this illegal operation was estimated at 20,000 to 30,000 baht. Patcharin faces multiple charges, including: 1. Practising dentistry without proper registration as per the Dental Profession Act B.E. 2537, Section 28. 2. Violating the order of the Consumer Protection Committee prohibiting the sale of cosmetic orthodontic equipment, issued on 30 January 2018. 3. Operating a medical facility without authorisation, according to the Medical Facility Act B.E. 2541, Section 16. 4. Conducting medical facility operations without permission, as stated in the Medical Facility Act B.E. 2541, Section 24. She was subsequently handed over to the Banglamung Police Station for legal proceedings. -- 2025-02-21
