webfact Posted January 17, 2012 Share Posted January 17, 2012 Close Aide to Prominent Politicians in Ubon Ratchathani Murdered The head of the Tungwai Subdistrict Administration Organization was shot dead in front of an ice factory in Ubon Ratchathani Province. Police pointed out that a business conflict involving a resort construction as the motive of the murder. Ubon Ratchathani Police examined the scene in front of the Sri Sopha Marketing ice factory in Warinchamrap District where 53 year-old Prasarn Khamsaendee, the head of the Tungwai Subdistrict Administration Organization, and his close aide 39 year-old Sawai Pradapchan, were murdered in their car. The victims were shot dead by a 11-millimeter gun. Officers found a bullet hole in the windshield and another in the front passenger window, as well as six bullet casings on the ground nearby. Police identified a military officer of an unknown unit who was hired to oversee the construction of a 100-million-baht resort owned by a senator in another province as a suspect. The soldier, who is known as Sergeant Daeng, fled the scene on a topper-equipped pick-up truck with the Nong Khai Province license plate and reportedly head towards Si Sa Ket Province. A preliminary investigation indicated that before the murder, Sergeant Daeng talked with Prasarn, who was contracted to build the resort, on the phone to check out one of the cabins at the construction site where a fire had broke out. The victim reportedly had an argument with the suspect about the fee that the hirer still owed to him, which was nearly 10 million baht. Three months earlier, Prasarn and other contractors had gathered to sue the owner of the resort for unpaid fees which reportedly amount to 60 million baht. In the meantime, the victim also pressured new contractors not to take over the construction. Apart from being a major contractor in Ubon Ratchathani, Prasarn was also the head of the Tungwai Subdistrict Administration Organization and has close ties to an executive member of now-defunct Thai Rak Thai Party Krieng Kaltinant and Pheu Thai Party list MP Kan Kaltinant. -- Tan Network 2012-01-17 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
slapout Posted January 17, 2012 Share Posted January 17, 2012 You could almost equate the shooting/murders between Polotical/business rivals in this country to the alledged mafia wars of the 30's in the US. In either case it would seem that there is always another like minded individual to take there place. Although, having said that, they keep the name of the regiment out of it. That's OK then. Another killing in a non-descript corner of Paradise for those who haven't travelled to Europe, possibly the African continent, much of Austral-asia, in fact anywhere beyond Darlington [ bit of a hole]. So there you go. Just when you thought it was safe to launder your socks along with your money something nasty comes along - like a dose of 'applause' - so much for timing then. A reminder of what a nasty, sordid and violent place it is or merely another instance for burying the head in the sand along with the bodies. Personal conflict, business conflict, marital conflict, conflict-conflict, convicts and conflicts ................ it all means a hole in the head and two in the windscreen but who's counting? The police aren't as maths was never a strong point.
