Thai baht hits 3-mth low on trade data, politics

SINGAPORE, Dec 2 (Reuters) - The Thai baht hit a three-month low on Friday on worries about a deteriorating trade balance and growing political uncertainties that threaten to undermine the government's public investment plans, dealers said.

The baht dropped to 41.35 per dollar, a third of a percent lower than late Asian trading on Thursday, hitting its lowest level since late August.

Data this week showed Thailand's trade balance swung to a deficit in October on unexpectedly weak exports while the current account dropped more than 90 percent from September levels.

Thailand is set to report this year its first annual current account deficit since 1998.
