Thai Wife Has Thai And Australian Passports What Are The Laws In Thailand For Entering

Featured Replies

can my thai wife who is a citizen of australia with a australian passport and a thai passport leave australia on the aussie passport and enter thailand on her thai passport

She will leave and enter Australia on her Australian passport and enter and leave Thailand

on her Thai passport.

Yes.

Just to add, when leaving Thailand, show both passports at the checkin counter at the airport

other wise they will be asking her were her visa for Australia is. This is not a problem.

sorry didnt read kevjohn post properly understand now

handy hint....when she returns to Thailand for the first time, she should hand over to immigration in BKK both her old and new Thai passports, just so they can see she originally left Thaialnd on her old passport. They'll then likely stamp her in on the new passport.

After that, just use the new Thai passport to depart and re-enter Thailand.

Yes definitely

Both passports needed at check-in, as already mentioned

to avoid visa problems.

Did she last enter Aus on her old Thai passport, or her Australian passport? If the Thai passport, she probably needs to exit on the new one and use the Aus passport when she re=enters the country.

A citizen doesn't use a foreign passport to enter or leave their country.
