Buying Quality Cigars And Whiskey In Thailand.

Featured Replies

Hey,

I was wondering if there is anywhere in Thailand to buy quality cigars and scotch Whiskey, in Thailand.

I've tried a tobacco shop before and I can only describe the experience as unpleasent.

I would like to know if there are any specialist cigar shop, and likewise, a nice liquer shop where quality whiskey can be purchased?

Thanks

There are two or three cigar shops in Pattaya. Dont know how good they are.

Well it would help if you give us your definition of,

"quality scotch Whiskey"

Many over here seem to think JW Black fits the bill,

I prefer single malts from the isles, names like Ardbeg, Highland Park, Talisker, Macallan and Laphroaig spring to mind.

Yes occasionally these can be spotted and should be snapped up on sight.

As of a couple months ago, there was a good cigar shop in Pattaya, between Beach Road and Second Road, just down from Mike Shopping Mall. They always have a decent selection and reasonably priced. As for whiskey, careful now, what is good for one is not for all. That topic fits between women and religion.

is pacific liquor still around, they had a pretty darn good selection of both

Yep. Still there [Klong Toey].

Probably one of the better selections, of both, in town.

If you are really particular, such items can be found at the more exclusive private clubs and 5-star hotels [in house shops].

There are quality Cigar Shops "Habanos" in a lot of the nicer Hotels, JW Marriott Sukhumvit Soi 2, for example. "Habanos" stores are filled with Cuban Cigars, Try the Hoya de Monterey, Cohiba, Romeo Julitta just to get started. I have also seen Chivas 21 year at the liquar department of the food section of Emporiam. Good Luck

cigars can be found in in nakhon phanom . Tienpanick is the shop name.

phone 042511133, 0858540455, fax - 042520412

424 bumrungmeuang road, nakhon phanom. also sells liquor, brandy, whisky etc. its a few doors up from the large petrol station.

very limited selection of cigars and mini cigars, but it beats having to go to laos to get them if youre desperate.

You don't mention your location:

In Bangkok, there is (or used to be) a cigar shop in All Seasons Place near the Conrad Hotel. Their range was quite extensive.

Regarding Whisky - Glenmorangie and decent Whisky's of that standard can be found in Villa and Gormet Markets throughout Bangkok.

I remember seeing a shop that fits that description on the Sukhumvit strip, just past the park by Emporium on the way to Soi 22.

I reckon if you asked the concierge at the Oriental or Peninsula Hotel they could help you, may well such a shop right in the lobby. . .

Is it possible to buy Backwoods honey cigar here in thailand ?

I visited both shops in Pattaya myself the other day, almost only cuban cigars. Cheap Cortez and then up to cohibas which were between 1200 and 1800 a pop.

Both shops had more or less the same selection.

I love to visit the Cigar and Whiskey lounge in the Hyatt (lower lobby level), which sells you the best cigars individually or a whole box. They have all the best names like Cohiba, Trinidad, Hoyo etc.

They also have a large collection of aged single malts and again you can get a glass or a bottle.

I leave my boxes and bottles there and they keep them in perfect condition.

My favorite cigar? Cohiba Behike.

My favorite malt? Glenfarclas 25 years old.

WHISKY = Scottish whisky ("scotch").... the real McCoy (no, that's not a brand!!)

WHISKEY = Irish booze, or something totally alien

Go for one of the Islay malts ...Bowmore, Laphroig, Bruichladdich... or from Skye, there is Talisker, which is a good dram. But for <deleted> avoid stuff like Teacher's and some of those other naff blends.

When I want a taste of good whiskey I reach right past the bottle of Oban in my cupboard and grab the Jameson.

Delicious, reliable and available.

Although I do not disagree with your choices, excepting Bruichladdich as I have not had the pleasure of having its aquaintance, something I would like to put right in the near future, however there are some good Irish Malts, Connemara Peated Single Malt, I have fond memories of.

To me, Bruichladdich is similar to, but a bit less smokey than, Laphroig. I'd also give the Spey malts a miss. IMO they are too sharp.

I have to confess total ignorance about Irish malts (amongst many other ignorances on my part!) ....I'll have to some research!

Yes Pacific Liquor is directly across street from Villa Supermarket, crosswalk is at Suk Soi 33.

The woman owner is quite nice and they are trying to sell out stock to close the shop. This has been going on for more than a year. Lately, she doesn't seem to be open some days. I think her health is not good. They have parking, well you can park in an empty lot just before the shop.

She also has lots of cigars, and I think... has a humidor. I have never bought cigars there. And I do not know about the selection.

booze prices are slightly below market rates. Much cheaper than Emporium (I hate that place).

When I want a taste of good whiskey I reach right past the bottle of Oban in my cupboard and grab the Jameson.

Delicious, reliable and available.

Please PM you bank account info. I will deposit postage for the Oban to be shipped to me.

Thank you.
